Day 302

It has been 302 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I had a lunch with my office-mate,
who is a Norwegian.
He will go to Chicago for few weeks, and leave for Norway.

I talked to him every day,
and he heard my strange English carefully,
which encouraged me incredibly.

I expressed my thanks for him before he left from the office.

It has been 301 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

Suddenly, I can't use water in my apartment.
I asked a management of it.
She said it recovered soon.
I am in my office now.
I hope it will recover until I come home.

It has been 298 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I watched a world cup soccer game, Japan versus Denmark, via the Internet yesterday.

It was started at 2:30 p.m.
However in Japan time zone, it was at 3:30 a.m.
So many Japanese soccer fans awoke early,
and cheered for Japan's team,
which I imagined from the twitter.

Japan won against Denmark,
so Japan qualified for the second round,
which is the first time for Japan.

It has been 297 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I faced a heavy storm yesterday,
and it was much thunder and lightning.
That was dealt by TVs.

It has been 296 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I met a guy from Egypt on an elevator.
I said I was Japanese,
and he replied he loved very, very, and very my country.

It was strong to respect others, I thought.
I hope to be like him.

It has been 295 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I may gain more weight, because I drink a coke everyday.
So I had started to do dieting with a hula hoop.

Yesterday I saw a group playing hula hoops.
They seemed be training for some event.
Indeed, they span their hoops at not only their waists but also their arms.
It's my pleasure to find hula hoop players.

It has been 294 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

In the latest post, I noted that there might be a summer festival in my town, but I didn't see it.
It was at the other place.
I joined it last Friday.

People laid on grass.
It was very hot, and furthermore, a big band played thick, sultry sounds on a stage.
However the place seemed nice and pleasant for me.

I got to be like the town.

It has been 291 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

The summer festival in my town started from yesterday.
The event would be located at a park where I come across everyday.
If it was true, I should find something unusual.

Members in my office watched a live game of world cup , on France vs Mexico.
However, a man, Mexican, was not there.

I wondered that he cheered his country in other place with beer.

It has been 289 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I decide to go to a hamburger shop tonight.

Last Sunday I decided to do so.
However the shop was closed early on Sunday.
So I missed it.

I have been patient until today.
Go for it today.

It has been 288 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

About two weeks ago,
there were several tens of ants in my room.
How surprising it was because it was on the 9th floor!

Japan won the first game against Cameroon in the World Cup,
which was fantastic.
I heard it from my courage at my office.
He celebrated Japan,
because Japan had never won in the World Cup except in 2002 at Japan-Korea.

He sometimes watched me videos about sports.

It has been 284 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I bought a sandwich at a shop which I haven't gone to.

I took a small challenge to doing something new.
I ate a hamburger with blue cheese.
It was a bit lag to feel its smell when I bit the burger.

That strange feeling will make me try it again.

Finally, I faced a fine sunshine.

It has been 281 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

It just began raining.
There might not be rainy season in this area.
However sometimes it have a short rainy time in a day.
Such rain was always heavy.

It has been 280 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

The father's day will come.
I decided to send a letter to my dad.

I wonder if I should have sent him a present.
So I went the cooperation of the university to find it.
I saw a long-sleeves college trainer printed a logo "Dad", or "Mom".
I just bought 2 trainers for my dad and my mom!

The problem is the summer will come.

Day 277

It has been 277 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I found that I hadn't seen collection boxes at shops in the US (or at least in my town).
On the other hands, usually shops in Japan have them.

I don't consider that it leads national characters of both countries.
For example, the fact about putting a collection box in Japanese shops might give
two converse observations as followings;

(i)Japanese people can put their money in a collection box.

(ii)Japanese people don't give their money to someone who needs it without a collection box.

It has been 273 days for which I have not found the difference about a collection box,
which I only want to note.

It has been 276 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

The meeting with my advisor was on today.
I talked about a correction of a subject in the last meeting,
and introduced some new ideas.

He suggested me.
I wondered that I gave him something useful.

A news, Japan prime minister resigned,
can be reached to my office.
An office mate tell me the news.

I remembered that Mr. Hatoyama became Japan prime minister
when I left from Japan.
I can't touch his age in Japan.

Day 274

It has been 274 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

Last Monday was a holiday, called Memorial_Day.
So last three days, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, were in silence at my department.
These were seemed as a vacation in Japan,
since there is no custom to spend a long vacation there.

How about in the US?

It has been 273 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

Last Saturday, I had a dinner with my friends.
Mr. Y who is a pos doc in my department and is my friend,
his wife,
Mr. C who is a pos doc in the department,
and, his girl friend were coming the dinner.

Mr. Y and his wife had gone to Japan.
They told me some episodes of that trip.
He had bought a laptop computer made in Japan at Akihabara,
where was famous place dealing with electrical appliances.

I spent a interesting time.
