Day 241

It has been 241 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

It will start a series of public holidays in Japan called the Golden Week.
Of course, there will not be holidays in the US.

However the Mother's day is at 9th, May in this year for both countries.
I checked that information via
wikipedia.
Historically, the origin of Japan's Mother's day is different from that in the US.
But it was changed to fit that in the US since about 1949.

Anyway, it does not depend on the date to thank each mother.
So I thank my mother who lives in Japan now.

Day 240

It has been 240 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I finally got a meeting with my advisor.
I could spend a significant time.
There was some bad points in my talk.
However I will turn them to reasons of someday's success.
To do so,
I study hard!

I can't stop my excitement,
since I got somehow good observation in my study.

It has been 238 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I first had drinking, as a private dinner, with same generations.

We talked about sports, cultural differences I felt,
the iPad, computer games, and etc.

That was fantastic time.

It has been 235 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I sent an e-mail to my advisor yesterday.
It was hard to write it English clearly.
However my experience of posting a message every weekdays would help me to do it.

It has been 234 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I participated in a dinner with members of a seminar yesterday.
The restaurant dealt with little more expensive menu.

I ordered a burger called the Kobe burger,
whose main ingredient was American Kobe beef.
It's strange for me,
because Kobe is a famous city produced beef IN JAPAN!

However the name had no relation with the taste of it.
I could enjoy eating it.

It has been 233 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

It's sunny day.
I hope that it keeps through next week.

Day 232

It has been 232 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

A seminar in this semester was ended yesterday.
So we went to a bar near my department.

I ordered a drink and a sandwich with no look,
because the menu was too complicated.

I met a strong alcoholic drink and a big sandwich,
whose names I didn't know.

Anyway, we spent a pleasant time.

Day 231

It has been 231 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I went to a university library,
which I hadn't gone yet.
I used to look at the outside of it everyday.
It is so big.
However the inside of it was more surprising!

There were fewer books than any other library.
It had a big and high reference room,
which is no ceiling through 4-th floor.

Day 228

It has been 228 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I found an meeting in a park.
Someone spoke to audiences using a mike on a stage.
Most of audiences had a board with political messages.

After coming home,
I searched that event using the Internet.
It was a tax day tea party,
because yesterday was a tax day.
The tax day is the limit of filing a final income tax return.
I wonder that a tea party only means an event on the tax day.
However, that type of events were open in various area in the US.

It has been 227 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

It is 5 p.m. when I write this post.
However outside is too bright.
This is because of the summer time.
There is no such custom in Japan.

That is the most unusual feeling for me
in foreign experiences.

I eat 2 bananas everyday.
So most parts of my body are made by bananas.

I heard that my colleague visited Canada last week.
On the other hand, I took pictures of some blossom at my town.

Bringing a camera is fun.
It is like having a habit of writing a diary.
If so, we might search a good angle of sight unconsciously.

It has been 224 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I worked hard at my department yesterday.
After work, I used a different route to go home.
Then I found beautiful full blossoms of a tree!
The spring might have given me a supplement,
in a pretty way.

It was very cold today.
I found a little snow fell.
It was an unusual situation,
because I had seen flower pieces of cherry blossom fell down yesterday.

It has been 220 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I enjoyed a concert last night.
I will explain the concert hall.

It was located near my apartment.
I could go to there within 5- minutes-walk.

Entering the hall,
I could see a warm decorated interior.
Many gentle men and women,
dressed formal suits,
waited inside each gate,
and followed each guests to their seats.
That service sounded very good.
A concert became a special experience.

It has a concert which I wrote about before today.
So the sun shine in my heart,
although it rains.

Finally, I started registering at the university library to borrow books.

It has been 217 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

It was the Easter yesterday.

I bought a chocolate package of the easter egg.
It contained a big, egg-shaped, chocolate.
I was surprised, because I thought it did many small, chicken-egg size, chocolates.

It has been 214 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I also melted a plastic colander.
(I posted last time I did it at Day 187.)
It made much gas,
so I felt a sense of danger.

I didn't want to die.

I will alive.

It has been 213 days since I arrived in Ann Arbor.

I feel that day time is long.
It hasn't been dark until 8 p.m.

The US has 4 time zones.
However it seems having a time difference of more than 4 hours,
at least in a world map.
This means that
there are different times of sunset in a time zone.
That is my hypothesis,
but I haven't prove it yet.

I bought a ticket of a concert last weekend.
I longed for the ticket as soon as possible.
So I looked at my mailbox every day.

I had looked at it once in 2 weeks to dump advertisements .
